    A 79-year-old man suffering from symptoms of cephalitis - an inflammation of the brain usually caused by a virus - has died in Thessaloniki at the Special Diseases Hospital. He was one of the more serious cases that doctors had referred to. For the time being, his death cannot be attributed to the West Nile Virus, which is linked to bites from infected mosquitoes, as tests will be conducted. At the same time, health authorities have taken all the necessary measures, while recommending that people also take steps to protect themselves.

    [02] Environment minister rules out sale of PPC plants

    In a recent press interview, the Environment, Energy and Climate Change minister, Tina Birbili, has reiterated that one of the most important structural changes for Greece is the deregulation of the energy market. She ruled out the sale of any Public Power Corporation (PPC) plants, while promoting the best interests of the public with the participation of private investors in the production of electrical energy. At the same time, Birbili invited trade unionists in the industry to a dialogue with the government, following their warnings of dynamic opposition and industrial action.
