A Culture Ministry delegation is examining applications and documents of all candidates for Pella Museum posts after a newspaper article claims of involvement of Interior Minister undersecretary, Theodora Tsakri in hiring procedures. The delegation should have completed inspection till the beginning of the coming week following instructions of the Culture Ministry political leadership. On her part, the Interior undersecretary has denied allegations and underlined that she would file a suit against the newspaper.

    Th. Tsakri Denies Accusations

Newspaper "Apokalipsis" writes of clientilist hirings in Pella Museum, blaming Interior undersecretary Theodora Tsakri of political intervention.

"Apokalipsis" refers to evidence proving breach of meritocracy in ASEP test resulting in the hiring of 36 people, who come either from her birth town or are her relatives.

In a written statement, Mrs. Tsakri categorically denies any involvement in the specific test, makes clear that all successful candidates meet the criteria, calls the Interior and Culture ministries to carry out an investigation and adds

"(...) Since it is an unfair, groundless and unethical attack against me and because it is soul-destroying to be called to prove my morality, dignity and political conscience after an alleged accusation and alleged revelation, I have asked my lawyers to exercise all practices provided by the law and file a lawsuit demanding compensation for mud slinging through the press against me (...) says Mrs. Tsakri announcement.

The Culture Ministry announcement says that hiring follows strict observance of law and results are posted on its website to ensure absolute transparency.

A Culture Ministry delegation is in the prefecture of Pella to conduct an investigation while its report will be handed to the General Inspector of Public Administration.
