  • [01] Samaras Launched Attack against the Government

    Saturday, 13 March 2010 13:24

ND leader A. Samaras, in his speech at his party's pro-congress conference entitled "employment, social security, social cohesion", warned the government that despite measures taken percentage points of recession would go up. Mr. Samaras accused the government of having taken wrong measures while he attributed responsibilities to the former ND government for its practice of smooth adjustment.

"ND is responsible for not changing PASOK practices"

"PASOK government is so messed up and instead of trying to find solutions to the problems mainly itself has created it attributes all the responsibility to the ND party", said Mr. Samaras.

He admitted that the ND government made mistakes , adding though that the ND did not bring deficit up to 12.7% and the state Accounting Office data show that 2/3 drop in 2009 state income was recorded in the last quarter.

He also said that PASOK government cancelled measures to raise revenue, recorded expenditures that had not been included, transferred income to next fiscal year and raised deficit to the percentage point it wanted. Furthermore, he accused PASOK government for dissolving state mechanism with its delay to appoint geneal secretaries, distorted climate in market speaking about imminent bankruptcy and sky rocketed state deficit through creative accounting method.

In self-criticism, Mr. Samaras recognized ND responsibility for not having changed the PASOK practices it had inherited and for the smooth economy adjustment in the first 3 years of its ruling which was very smooth and was not adjustment.

Mr. Samaras said that PASOK created a model based on loans and redistribution of clientism relations adding when the ND came to office managed the system instead of changing it. He stressed that ND did not hesitate to make self-criticism: "We do and will do self purging whenever necessary. We owe nothing to anybody and fear nothing and nobody. We will shed light to all and when we say all we mean all. We will not cover up anybody and we mean it. We want all tru to come to light".
