    News

    The first death in Europe from H1N1 flu complications was recorded in Scotland. Glascow health authority said that the patient had health problems. The World Health Organization (WHO)on June, 11 declared the first pandemic after 40 years and warned that spreading of the virus was inevitable. According to data released by the WHO on Friday, some 30.000 people in 74 countries have contracted the H1N1 virus while 145 lost their lives.

    [02] Meeting of H1N1 Pandemic Committee

    National Pandemic H1N1 Committee meets at 11:30 on Monday morning to discuss coordination of measures to better deal with the situation. A press interview will follow the meeting. In the meantime, 20 H1N1 cases have been recorded in Greece while an 11 month old baby has contracted the flu. Health Minister does not appear concerned stressing that the country is well prepared in view of the summer.

    Competent services are on the alert in view of millions of tourist arrivals to spend holidays in Greece. All H1N1 cases in Greece are mild while 8 of them have fully recovered.

    Health Minister Dimitris Abramopoulos stressed that Greece is a safe country and there is no reason for concern. He also underlined that special measures have been decided for September when flu season starts.
