[01] 3.5% Gap between PASOK and ND

The gap between PASOK (Panhellenic Socialist Movement) and ND (New Democracy) stands at 3.5%, while the popularity rate of the Greens seems to have lost ground, has suggested a Public Issue survey conducted on behalf of SKAI private television and Kathimerini paper.

In voting intention, the main opposition party of PASOK leads the race, garnering 32%, with the ruling party of ND trailing with 28.5%. KKE (Greek Communist Party) lands third place with 7%, the Greens and SYRIZA (Coalition of the Radical Left) trail with 6% and LAOS (Popular Orthodox Rally) with 5%. The rest parties gain 6%.

[02] 40yo Man Arrested for Internet Child Pornography

Police sources said the mothers of the two teens told police that an unknown person who introduced himself through the Internet as a 17-year-old schoolgirl started communicating with their daughters in chat rooms and urging them to show him parts of their bodies and have cybersex with him.

He also sent the girls porn photos and web cam videos. He had tried the same with other three 11-year-old schoolgirls. Police asked Microsoft in the USA to hand over his e-traces. Microsoft's prompt response led to his arrest.

Police raided Monday his house and confiscated six hard discs, two portable hard discs, 391 CDs and five pages containing child pornography material, including the photos he sent to his victims. The arrestee was referred Tuesday to the prosecutor.

[03] Socialist Leader Reaches out to ND Voters

Confident of his party's win at the European Parliament elections, PASOK (Panhellenic Socialist Movement) George Papandreou called for a high turnout at the elections, while addressing a party rally in Thessaloniki, northern Greece. He also blasted the government for its economic policy, its decision to shut the House, the cover-up of scandals and corruption cases, and reposed the dilemma "we either change or sink."

"We will win on 7 June, because voting for PASOK means voting for hope," stressed George Papandreou.

"On 7 June, we will give a vote of hope and confidence to PASOK and to policies that can take us to the future. PASOK's victory will pave the way for an independent government in the general elections," added he.

"On Sunday, we will fight a crucial battle against the interests that cannot stand a law of state, that cannot stand PASOK touching on what has to change, on the power the Greek people have. Therefore, they are cultivating the idea that no one is different. Because, people surrender when there are no choices."

Urging voters to cast their ballots, the Greek Socialist leader underlined continued lambasting the government and the Prime Minister, noting, "PASOK is their only fear, because it proposes an alternative governance model, it proposes a reliable, dynamic and progressive government, ready to shape a new course."

"PASOK's win on 7 June will be a win of those who were ignored and condemned by the right policy. It will be a win of the majority, therefore, voting is crucial," continued Papandreou.

"Voting for ND means voting for those who sank Greece in the crisis, for those who invest in lies, polarization and slander."

Papandreou then went on to challenge Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis to be honest and say which new taxes he is getting ready to impose after the European Parliament elections.

The PASOK head also touched on the problems the residents of Thessaloniki face, blasting the government for abandoning the city and northern Greece. βThey took advantage of the people's trust to win the elections and then betrayed them in the worst possible manner."

"Northern Greece knows better than any other part of Greece that the ruling party of ND promises everything to everyone and then gives everything to the few, friends, best men and close buddies. Now, they are inaugurating works, including the Egnatia Motorway, works that have the signature of PASOK," said Papandreou.

Addressing to the conservative voters, he reached out to them, saying they felt betrayed by the government's policies, adding that PASOK's fight is their own fight, as well. "It is a fight to get rid of barbarism we are experiencing," concluded he.
