    Coalition of the left (SYRIZA) president A. Tsipras visited Thrakomakedones and Menidi areas, Attika. In the speeches he said: "The real dilemma in June 8 is whether these politics that shrink human rights, salaries and retired pensions, the politics that leads the new generation to the margins of society will continue or not."

    [02] S. Korea: Former President Commits Suicide

    Former South Korean President Roh Moo Hyun, grilled by prosecutors last month in a bribery investigation, died after leaping from a mountaintop today, leaving what appeared to be a suicide note to his family. Roh, 62, jumped from the 30-meter (100-foot) Owl Rock atop Mount Bonghwa during an early morning hike, and was pronounced dead at Pusan National University Hospital. A fracture of his skull was cited as the medical cause of his death.

    According to one of his closest associates, former president had written a letter to his family making clear his intention to commit suicide. "Suicide in Korea is sometimes regarded as the ultimate protest of innocence," said Hwang Sang Min, professor of psychology at Yonsei University in Seoul. Former president was elected in 2003 with the slogan to fight against corruption.

    [03] Fire breaks out in āMacedonia Pallasā Hotel

    A fire broke out just before 7:00 in the morning in "Macedonia Pallas" in the seaside of Thessaloniki. The fire started in the kitchen in the basement of the hotel. Thick smoke was spread to the building.

    Two people a cook and a woman were slightly injured and were transferred to Ipokrateio Hospital while another woman with breathing problems was admitted a little later. The hotel staff evacuated the hotel for precautionary reasons. Thessaloniki traffic police closed both traffic lanes in Magalou Alexandrou Central Avenue.

    [04] G. Papandreou Tours Elefsina and Drapetsona

    PASOK president Giorgos Papandreou visited today Saturday Elefsina 12th Fight Wing. Mr. Papandreou said that competent ministers have to co ordinate efforts so as barbaric scenes like the 2007 wild fires that ravage Peloponnese, to be avoided. He committed, if elected, to provide all necessary precautionary and fire fighting means and provided guarantees for pilots' safety. Mr. Papandreou was briefed by members of the military leadership over the preparation in view of the anti missile period and Papandreou expressed his thanks to fire fighting pilots for their heroic effort to distinguish fires.

    After his visit to Elefsina, Mr. Papandreou paid a visit to the old factory of fertilizer in Drapetsona where he was welcomed by Piraeus mayor and PMs of the area. Mr.Papandreou stressed: "We are here to highlight one of the biggest problems of Attika especially of Drapetsona area; a problem that could turn into an advantage. As everyone sees this area here is maybe one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, but access in the seaside front of Attika is not allowed for many citizens.

    And continued saying that what is necessary is another government that will focus on the citizen that will create green places to the local community it will initiate the necessary works and support services for entertainment, athletics and will develop stable means of transport.

    Finally, Mr. Papandreou referred on the infrastructure created for Olympic Games underlying that they have now turned into shopping centers and not into athletic training and entertainment centers that would reinforce tourism, employment and development. All these, he concluded, require a government that will care for this country focusing on the citizens' needs and it will be wiling to conflict with smaller or bigger interests in order to secure every citizen's rights and interests. So, PASOK comes to secure all citizens' rights, Mr. Papandreou concluded.

    [05] Prime Minister Tours Thessalia

    Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis is visiting Thessalia prefecture today Saturday and more specifically Trikala, Karditsa and Larissa areas. Mr. Karamanlis is expected to visit the building site in Mahalohori node (part of Larissa-Trikala road), Theopetra cave, central Greece highway (E65) the irrigative works taking place in Smokovos as well as Karditsa music school. During his visit the Premier said that he is satisfied with the progress of the works stressing that when the works are completed we will have an exceptional National Road, safe, modern that will meet the European standards.

    Mr. Karamanlis stressed: "I want to congratulate Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works Ministry (YPEHODE) and to express the certainty that all people involved in this important and difficult works, will do whatever possible to complete the works as soon as possible".

    On his side YPEHODE minister Giorgos Souflias commented: "We turned lethal petal of Maliakos Gulf into a friendly one" and underlined that the most difficult and dangerous road parts in Tempi and Platamonas are under construction works.

    Mr. Souflias briefed the Prime Minister that the twin tunnels in Omilio contraction site reach 6 Km. Two twin tunnels of 23 Km and 2 Km accordingly as well as bridges- the biggest of which will extend 750 meters and will start from Evegelismos- are to be constructed. The whole budget of the project from Maliakos to Imathia reach 1,2 billion euros. Mr. Souflias concluded that the works will be completed in 2012.
