  • [01] Woman Kept Slave for 40 Years in Alpine Farm

    News

Just two months before Josef Fritzl, 74, is due to stand trial for imprisoning his daughter for 24 years in a dungeon beneath his home, a new case involving a woman kept as a slave on a remote Alpine farm for more than 40 years was revealed.

In this case, the imprisoned woman, aged 55, appears to have been suffering of mental disability. She was kept as a slave by a couple to do the housework. As per social workers, she does not know how to write, does not know what a mobile phone is and where she originally comes from. She had eaten only bread and marmalade for the past few years. Astonishingly, the woman said she had been reasonably well-treated for most of the period.

But her situation changed when the husband died and she was left in the custody of his widow. The police are investigating the case.

[02] Gaza: Dramatic Experience for Humanitarian Missions

FREE GAZA representatives gave a Press Conference during which they criticized the Israelis' stance on the attacks against Gaza and the obstacles they raise to humanitarian missions. Egypt was also criticized for the obstacles it raises to humanitarian missions, while the Greek government was accused of not exerting enough pressure to allow vessel "Arion", carrying humanitarian aid to reach the Gaza Strip.

Member of the Network for the Political and Social Rights Vaggelis Pissias spoke of a highly aggressive stance that aims at making it clear that the threat of the attack to the humanitarian missions is intense and clear; for this reason they should stop. Moreover he said that more determined people should participate in such actions, because this is what the Palestinians need.

Moreover, at a Press Conference held in the Correspondents of the Foreign Press, "The Doctors of Peace" presented on the occasion of echelons' visit to Gaza shrapnel from Israel's bombing in Gaza Strip hospitals. "We are neither heroes nor brave men, but humans", they stated, describing the tragic conditions prevailing in Gaza "a modern Aswitch."

    Israeli Embassy

The Israeli Embassy issued an announcement appealing to all parties which wish to send humanitarian aid to Gaza to use the official passages and not transform this important work to an issue through which they will attract the Media's attention and use it for domestic expediency. The Embassy was referring to "Arion", which failed to reach its destination and deliver humanitarian aid.

Furthermore, the announcement reads that previous FREE GAZA missions were welcomed and attended a Hamas reception. Hamas is a terrorist organization, which the EU also describes as such and which rejects Israel's right to exist. It is responsible for the murdering over 1,000 Israelis in suicide bomb attacks and has launched 8,000 missiles against innocent Israeli civilians.

Finally, the same announcement reports "it is clear that a mission that attempts to enter the war zone, members of which in the past have met with Hamas leaders and which could easily send humanitarian aid through official channels, decide not to do so, they are not participating in a humanitarian mission but in communications trick that aims at attracting the Media's attention and provoke Israel, as well as affect its image."

The Eharheia attack was the response to 15 yo Alexandros Grigoropoulos death says the proclamation. The Anti-terrorism Body is already examining the proclamation of the Revolutionary Struggle organization.
