    Sea services from Piraeus port, Greece's largest port, will run smoothly, since the Deputy Mercantile Marine Minister assured the fishermen, who had blocked, they would meet Wednesday noon with Rural Development Minister Alexandros Kontos. In the meantime, farmers of central Greece are to stage a new round of protests. A day after the demonstration held in the central Greek town of Farsala, new streets protests have been scheduled to take place Karditsa, Larissa and Mytilene.

    [02] Condoleezza Rice Arrives in India

    News

    US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to hold talks with the Indian administration in Washington's effort to ease tensions in the region. Rice's goal is to exert pressure on India and Pakistan to join forces in the fight against terrorism.

    A preparatory meeting between the Indian Foreign Minister and US Undersecretary of State John Negroponte had preceded. The Indian side has claimed the Islamists who launched the attacks in Mumbai killing 188 people came from Pakistan, pointing the finger at Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

    [03] People with Disabilities Request Support Measures

    Requesting immediate measures to protect them against the financial crisis, a delegation of Greece's Confederation of People with Disabilities (AMEA) is meeting Wednesday with Parliament Speaker Dimitris Sioufas to give him the annual report on AMEA's situation in Greece. The AMEA delegation will also meet with the President of the Hellenic Republic and the opposition leader.
