  • [01] Efraim & Arsenios Expected to Testify on Monday

All eyes are now fixed on Monday, when Vatopedi Monastery Abbot Efraim and monk Arsenios are expected to testify before the inquiry committee probing the Vatopedi scandal. However, it is not yet certain whether they are to appear before the committee or send a memo instead. In the meantime, the Vatopedi Monastery referred Deputy Finance Minister Antonis Bezas, who repealed the1999-2003 period ministerial decisions, to the State Council. On Sunday afternoon it was former Mikra mayor Nikos Paneris' turn to testify.

Paneris said that the land in the area of Mikra given to the Monastery belonged to refugees.

The Opposition parties (PASOK, SYRIZA and KKE) demanded the bank accounts of all those implicated in the case be opened.
