[01] Draft Bill on Family Law Tabled

The Justice Ministrys bill has been tabled in Parliament. The separation period of spouses decreases to two instead of four years, while the free cohabitation heterosexuals will be allowed. Adoption is facilitated.

Justice Minister Sotiris Hatzidakis described the basic points of the bill radical during a Press Conference today. Children of unmarried couples will be recognized, while property and inheritance problems for unmarried couples are settled. At the same time, children of unmarried couples are protected.

[02] N. Korea-USA Tension

The relations between North Korea and the US are again tense following information as per which there are indications that North Korea deployed more than 10 missiles on its west coast apparently for an imminent test launch. "We would urge North Korea to avoid any steps that increase tension on the peninsula," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters when asked about rising tensions over the disputed Korean maritime borders. In Vienna, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said Pyongyang had informed the agency that its inspectors at the Yongbyon nuclear reactor complex were now denied access. Pyongyang announced in September that it planned to restart its nuclear reprocessing plant at Yongbyon, used to make weapons-grade material, and that IAEA inspectors would have no further access to it. "Its a regrettable step but one that is reversible," McCormack said. The spokesman said that other steps North Korea has taken -- such as removing seals on equipment and putting equipment back in place -- were reversible.

[03] N. Orestiada Railroad Station Burns down

A fire burnt down the 70-year-old Nea Orestiada railway station that was built in 1926 and had been operating until 1996. The total destruction of the building has been attributed to the fact that the only building materials used for its construction was wood. The Fire Brigade is investigating the case to discover the causes of the fire. Firemen prevented the fire from spreading to the OSEs neigbouring installations.
