[01] Debetzi not through Long Jump Final

Pigi Debetzi, who won bronze medal in triple jump, did not make it through to long jump final finishing 9th in the A preliminary group with a 6.57m jump and ranked 15th overall. Her jump was just 3cm shorter of Jamaican athlete 6.60m who finished 12th and advanced to final. Debetzi said it was a difficult preliminary, she tried hard and risked to achieve a 6.70m jump but had two disallowed jumps, uncommon for her.

Lika Failed Javelin Throw Final

Sabba Lika with a 59.11m throw did not advance in women javelin throw final, finishing 9th in A preliminary group and 15th overall. A total of 12 athletes made through to women javelin throw final with the best performance 67.69m achieved by Czech world champion Barbara Spotakova.
