    In Mens Slalom final C1 competition, Christos Tsakmakis ranked seventh at the 29th Beijing Olympic Games with with a time of 186.67 seconds. Slovakian Michael Martikan won the gold medal with 176.65 seconds, British David Florence the silver medal with 178.61 seconds and Australian Robin Bell the bronze medal with 180.59 seconds.

    In beach volleyball Olympic tournament, Tsartsiani and Koutroumanidou of Greece embraced their first victory in the tournament, downing Augustides/Dell of South Africa. Despite a rather stressed beginning, the Greek players took over and claimed an easy 2-0 sets win. Vaso Karantasiou and Vicky Arvanity were beateb by Mexican Candelas-Garcia (2-1).

    In Rowing, , Greek Chrysa Biskitzi and Alexandra Tsiavou advanced to the semi finals of Lightweight Womens Double Sculls as they finished second in the 2nd repetitive row with a time of 7:24:55.

    In Archery, Womens Individual" Elpida Romandzi advanced to the "16" finalists. Archer Evangelia Psarra of Greece failed to make it through the next round of the Womens Individual. She lost to Chinese Lin 110-101 and was eliminated.

    In RSX men sailing, Nikos Kaklamanakis achieved the 8th place in total ranking. In women, Antonia Frai achieved the 17th place. In Womens Laser Radial, Eftichia Mantzaraki is in the 16th place. In Mens Vaggelis Chimonas achieved the 22nd place. Andreas Kosmatopoulos and Andreas Papadopoulos in 470 class, after the completion of the third and fourth race, got the 12th place.

    Elvira Efstathiou did not make it to woman butterfly 200m although in the preliminaries she finished first, lowering her individual record to 2:13.27. Bad was Aris Grigoriadis performance, who finished 6th place in the four lap preliminary race covering the distance in 50:62 far above his individual record of 49:51.Romanos Alyfantis came 5th place in 200m breast preliminaries. The Greek team came 15th place in the 4x 200m men freestyle relay.

    [02] Attika Quarries under Inspection

    Police authorities are investigating the legality of quarries in Attika prefecture. Athens Supreme Court prosecutor Giorgos Sanidas issue this order today to Athens Prosecution Department. Supreme prosecutor has asked Markopoulo quarries to be under close investigation as according to judicial order they are not allowed to be open.

    [03] Special Guard Injured

    A special guard was injured today by bullet when his colleagues gun was detonated in Athens Municipality Police Department. As announced by police the accident was caused by the second guards mistake in his effort to unload his gun.

    OAED New Projects

    Greek Manpower Employment Organization (O.A.E.D.) has approved two new projects initiated by OAED chief Mr. Giorgos Vernadakis, and the relevant suggestions submitted by the ministry of Employment and Social Protection.

    As per the total amount of costs, OAEDs budget will cover it. "NTHE 2008" project has to do with funding of private companies for the creation of 6.500 new job positions for unemployed people aged from 31 to 44 years old. This project is expected to cost 64.837.500 euros and to be put into effect in 2010. It involves 3.5000 unemployed who wish to create their own private business. "2008 NEE general prpject will cost 60 million euros and will be materialized in 2008 and 2009.
