    Political survival of Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Turkey is in the hands of the constitutional court. Police swooped shortly before the Constitutional Court began hearing a legal case in which the governing AK Party is charged with trying to establish an Islamic state and could be closed, a move that might lead to an early parliamentary election. Ankara police said 24 people had been detained. General prosecutor has officially asked president Gul and Preime Minister Erdogan to step down. He supported that the governmental party precedes to actions that "hurm the secular state" and stated that it 71 people must not participate to a political party for 5 years.

    On its side AKP that was re elected last year denies the charges and brands the case politically instigated while it states that it will analyze its stances on Thursday.

    French EU presidency commented that the effort to remove the governmental party from power is keeping away Turkey from its goal to enter the European Union.

    [02] Two Men Mysteriously Murdered in Thessaloniki

    According to police evidence, the murder of the two men who were found shot in Thessaloniki is attributed to face off. As announced by General Police Department of Thessaloniki a 44 years old man and a 24 years old Russian man were found dead at 2.40 behind Thessalonikis Music Hall. Medical coroner will examine the bodies and will announce his report. The director of Thessaloniki security department Mr. Dimitris Papadopoulos said that most probably the men shot one another after they had fight. The victims did not have a criminal record. However the 42 years old had been charged in the past with beating. The residents of the area did not hear any shootings due to the strong lightings of the rainfall that broke out yesterday.

    [03] Jolie Checks into French Maternity Hospital

    Angelina Jolie has reportedly checked into a hospital in the south of France to give birth to twins. According to the Associated Press, she has checked into the Lenval Hospital in Nice but there was no urgency to the admission and it had been planned for some time. A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed to the AP that the actress is very well. Everything is fine. The spokesperson added that Angelina is not expected to give birth immediately but will remain at the facility until she does give birth later this month. Angelina and partner Brad Pitt are already parents to four children: sons Maddox & Pax and daughters Zahara & Shiloh. The twins are thought to both be baby girls.

    U.S. pop star Madonna and her husband, British film maker Guy Ritchie, are not planning to divorce, her spokeswoman said on Tuesday, denying media speculation that their marriage is ending. "There are no divorce plans," Liz Rosenberg, Madonnas publicist, said in a statement emailed to Reuters. Rumors that the London-based couple planned to split have been circulating for months, fueled most recently by reports that the singer had lined up Fiona Shackleton. Madonna, 49, and Ritchie, 39, married in December 2000 at Skibo Castle in northeast Scotland. They have a son, Roco and in 2006 Madonna applied to adopt David Banda, a boy from Malawi. Madonna also has a daughter, Lourdes, from an earlier relationship.

    [05] Explosion in Russian Apartment Block

    An explosion tore through an apartment building early on Wednesday, killing two people in the southern Russian city which is to host the Winter Olympics in six years, police and emergency services said. Police said one of the victims was a 14-year-old boy and the other an elderly woman. A gas canister had been found at the scene, but police did not know if this was the source of the explosion or if the blast was an act of terrorism.

    Lorry Collided with Tram

    A lorry crashed with a tram in Palaio Faliro, Athens at 8:00 after crossing the road leading to the seaside avenue. The tram and lorry drivers as well as another woman were slightly injured and were transferred to "Evagalismos" hospital.

We, citizens and politicians in metropolitan Greece are proud of your achievements and moved by the power of your willingness for progress and prosperity said Mrs. Bakoyianni. We monitor your achievements in many sectors of human activities, you are the best ambassadors of Greek culture, bringing the credentials of peace and friendship between the two peoples. With your earnest efforts, you formed a second Greece, which is proud, dynamic and active but also a pioneer in the multicultural mosaic of the American society. Mrs. Bakoyianni congratulated the AHEPA leadership for their initiative to bring together the Greek diaspora of America and the globe. The president of the Greek-American organization, delivered a short address and conveyed the gratitude of the omogeneia for the Greek states support.
