Pope Benedict 15th and Ecumenical Patriarchate Bartholomew officiated a joint ceremony in a shining and religious atmosphere for the celebration of apostles Peter and Paul. The two ecclesiastical fathers sitting one next to the other renewed the values for unity among Christians. But they also acknowledged the obstacles between the Catholic and Orthodox Church. "The celebration of the holly apostles Peter and Paul provides the chance for the two churches to seal their commitment for peace and for reinforcement of their solidarity" Ecumenical Patriarchate Bartholomew stressed in his meeting with Pope Benedict. After their meeting the two spiritual fathers exchanged gifts and the Patriarch presented the Pope in his escort. Later today afternoon, the pontiff will declare in "San Paolo" church the presence of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as well as the beginning of the year the Catholic Church will consecrate to Apostle Paul.
