Siemens scandal has cast dark shadow over the countrys political stage. At the same time judicial authorities are seeking for the people involved in the "black money" trafficking. "The government will take the initiative for the setting up of an inquiry committee after Justice has found specific evidence against statesmen" stressed Justice Minister, Sotiris Xatzidakis in an interview with newspaper "Eleftheros Typos". Mr. Hatzidakis believes that there will be developments in July to start the regular interrogation procedure. In the meantime, Theodoros Tsoukatos is scheduled to make his statement regarding the 420.000 euros sum before the public prosecutor on Tuesday. George Papakonstantinou statement about a second secret party fund has given rise to many questions. A poll conducted by Metron Analysis on behalf of the newspaper "Eleftheros Typos" indicates that 50% of respondents predict division of the PASOK party and creation of a new party while among PASOK party supporters the percentage who see division is 39.5% while 52.6% believe that the party will overcome the crisis.

PASOK president, George Papandreou requested the setting up of an Inquiry Committee on Saturday as the start of deep restructures in the political system and stated determined to confront the government and its practices which damnify Greece. In an interview with the newspaper "Eleftherotipia", Evangelos Benizelos asked for the setting up of PASOK party domestic inquiry committee to secure transparency while he stressed that suspension of party identity is not enough. He had a positive view of Simitis ruling and stressed that rift in Papandreou-Simitis relations could and should have been avoided. In an interview with "Aggelioforos" newspaper Aleka Papariga stressed that her party asked for the setting up of an inquiry committee while in its announcement the GCP stresses the need for reversal in the political system. SYN president, Alexis Tsipras told in an interview with "Avgi" newspaper that the Siemens case will accelerate developments already on the way, adding that the forces of the past can not guarantee anything better for the future of the country. In the same line was SYRIZA parliamentary Committee president, Alekos Alabanos statement, who predicted the end of bipartisanship, stressing that his party is emerging as the alternative solution.

    [02] Summit on Oil Rally

    22 Ιουν 2008 20:50:0

    Sources: ΑNA-ΜPA

At the meeting Sunday, Saudi Arabia, the worlds top oil exporter asked for more transparency and measures to control market speculation in futures exchanges, where oil prices are set. Participants did not speak of any intention to increase production in the immediate future. Saudi Arabia, however, a few days ago had announced that it will increase its production by 200.000 barrels a day next month. The final communique of the summit, held under the auspices of Saudi Arabia, International Energy Service, International Energy Forum and OPEK emphasised the importance of greater transparency in oil markets and more investment in production. Additional dynamic in the production line is necessary for stability in world oil market, therefore increase in investments is necessary for the supply of the market. Analysts believe that the oil price surge will continue due to postponement and unwillingness of participants to reach specific decisions. The oil production countrie (OPEK) have refused to increase production stressing that price rises are caused speculators and only the host king committed himself to increase oil production.
