As 50% of the electric-power plants have been occupied and GENOP-PPC will be staging strikes until next Wednesday the danger for a general black-out grows every day. In an attempt to deal with the problem, PPC (Public Power Corporation) is proceeding with electric-power cuts in rotation across Greece. PPCs lawsuit that demands to declare GENOP-PPCs strike illegal and improper will be tried today. Commenting on PPCs strike government spokesman Theodoros Roussopoulos justified the peoples right to go on strike, adding however that nobody is entitled to use a social benefit as a means to achieve a goal he considers just.

The people are called to avoid using elevators, economise on electric-power and drive carefully as traffic lights are not operating.

The Fire Brigade has received 100 calls this morning to free people from halted elevators.

The Civil Engineer and Bailiff Unions will go on a strike on 12 and 13 March, while municipality employees will go on a strike from today to 12 March. Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis has appealed to Athens inhabitants to avoid placing their garbage into litter bins. Meanwhile, GENOP-PPC (General Federation of Employees of Public Power Corporation) mobilizations may be suspended, as the Court of First Instance will hear and determine PPCs provisional and protective measures that demand to declare the strike illegal and improper.

Meanwhile, as 50% of the electric-power plants have been occupied and GENOP-PPC will be staging strikes until next Wednesday the danger for a general black-out grows every day. Drivers in Athens are facing problems since traffic lights do not function during rush hours. SYN (Coalition of the Left) Alexis Tsipras is visiting GENOP-PPC headquarters now. Bank of Greece employees are still on strike, while dealing room employees of Banks are also continuing with their mobilizations.

    [03] Tension Escalates

The international community is monitoring developments in the Middle East, following the bloody attack against a Jewish religious college in western Jerusalem Thursday evening that cost the lives of eight people. Meanwhile, Gaza Strip inhabitants are facing the worst humanitarian crisis since 1967 after Israel sealed off the area. Non-governmental organizations are asking from the International Community to intervene before it is too late. Meanwhile, Libya, backed by several other countries, prevented the U.N. Security Council from condemning the assault as a "terrorist attack". However, as per Israel, the attack will not halt the peace talks. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Washington and Moscow have condemned the attack. As per the Israeli authorities, the culprit was a Palestinian, who was killed later. A previously unknown group called the "Jalil Freedom Battalions - the Martyrs of Imad Mughniyeh and Gaza" claims to have carried it out, according to Lebanese Hezbollah media.

    Attack Denounced

The State Department and the US president condemned that attack, while the British Foreign Secretary David Miliband denounced the "shocking" shooting at a school in west Jerusalem and said the only way to honour the memory of the eight dead was to promote peace.

From his side, French Foreign Minister Bernar Kushner has asked for the continuation of negotiations despite the ongoing violence. The Spanish government denounced the terrorist attack, expressing its condolences to the Israeli people and government.

The Russian Ambassador to the UN spoke of a terrorist action.

[04] Dull Chores Improve Sex Life

By and large, the more men do around the house, the happier women are," sociologist Scott Coltrane of the University of California, Riverside, a co-author of a report published in synopsis form on the website of the Council of Contemporary Families (CCF) told AFP. "When men do more of the housework, womens perceptions of fairness and marital satisfaction rise and the couple experience less marital conflict," the report says. The reward for menfolk who help out around the house could be more sex. "We sociologists generally dont go there, but therapists say theres a direct correlation" between men doing more housework and the frequency of sex, said Coltrane. In a comment posted on the CCF website, psychologist Joshua Coleman agreed that sharing household chores "is associated with higher levels of marital satisfaction -- and sometimes more sex, too!" "Wives report greater feelings of sexual interest and affection for husbands who participate in housework," Coleman, who is a senior fellow at the CCF, said. In addition to doing more boring chores around the home, American men spend three times more time with their kids today than they did in 1960, the study said.
