    North Korea Invites Eric Clapton

    The British singer and guitarist Erik Clapton was invited by North Korea to rock Pyongyang. North Korea is building strong relations with the West as North Korean State as the Symphony Orchestra is due to perform in London and the English city of Middlesbrough in September. "Eric Clapton is a well-known musician and guitarist, famous throughout the world," said the official, who declined to give his name. "It will be a good opportunity for Western music to be understood better by Koreans", an official diplomat said. Clapton explained that this invitation is in return for the Koreans orchestras British tour. The official announcement of the invitation took place a day before the New York Philharmonic played in Pyongyang on Tuesday.

    Ministry of Tourist Development, Olympia Prefecture and National Technical University of Athens signed an agreement for a Pan-Hellenic Student Competition on the recovery of landscape of the entrance of Ancient Olympia. According to the agreement a special prize and money will be awarded to the students will submit the best architectural plan for the recovery of the entrance of Ancient Olympia.

    [03] Alavanos Visits Heraklion Prefecture

    SYRIZA parliamentary group president Mr. Alekos Alavanos is visiting Heraklion prefecture. Mr. Alavanos has successive meetings with Heraklion mayor Mr. Rouvas and with local representatives in order to discuss problems that concern the area. As stated by Mr. Alavanos immediate and strong interventions are needed in order for farmers to copy with the major rise in production costs, the difficulty of product disposal as well as lack of authorized bodies checking the authenticity of Greek products. On reference to the UN report on poverty Mr. Alananos said: "I believe that the government of New Democracy succeeded to bring Greece literally at the bottom of the barrel. The evidence was submitted to the European Union and Greece has the biggest poverty rate in working families in the UN. I want to congratulate Mr. Karamanlis, Mr. Alogoskoufis, Mrs. Petralia and I want to say that this road must close. We must find a new route for social protection, for a social state and for the protection of more vulnerable people of our country". Mr. Alavanos called on the government not to support the adjustment submitted by New Democracy parliamentary members of Chania prefecture regarding Crete KTEL (Public Bus Service).

    High Oil Prices

    Oil price exceeded $ 100 a barrel in international markets today. US light crude oil price rose to $ 1,13 while it reached $ 100,36 in New York market. In addition, in London market, Brent crude delivery for March settled at $ 98,70 per barrel. Fears for lack of demand of oil in US (the biggest energy consumer in the world) drove to a gradual reduce of oil prices. A few days before oil prices in international markets boosted with crude oil settling at $ 100,10 a barrel in February 19 in New York.
