[01] Wire Tapping & Illegal Videoing a Capital Offence

The legislation will soon change on wire tapping and illegal videoing. An amendment soon to be included in the Justice Ministry bill will transform wire-tapping and illegal videoing to a capital offence. An announcement issued by the Ministry of Justice describes the recent wire-tapping and illegal videoing cases a brutal violation of privacy and the civilians personal data. Justice Minister Sotiris Hatzihakis sent a letter to Supreme Court Prosecutor Georgios Sanidas, demanding the strict implementation of law on privacy that constitutes the fundamental element of the peoples personality. A special amendment soon to be included on a relevant bill of the Justice Ministry with the prime ministers approval will transform wire-tapping and illegal videoing to capital offence.

[02] Musharraf Refuses to Back Out

The ruling party has accepted its defeat in the parliamentary elections, while Benazir Bhuttos party is leading. However, Pervez Musharraf is refusing to back out. Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and a leading opposition lawyer has asked for the two opposition parties that have defeated the ruling party to cooperate in order to get rid of Musharrafs dictatorship. Sharif told reporters in the eastern city of Lahore earlier that Musharraf has said he would quit when people tell him. People have now given their verdict. At the same time, a spokesman for Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday dismissed calls for the former general to quit after his allies conceded defeat in crucial parliamentary elections.

They are way off in their demands, presidential spokesman Major General Rashid Qureshi. This is not the election for president. President Musharraf is already elected for five years, Qureshi said.

Finally, the US State Department described Mondays election as a "step toward the full restoration of democracy".

[03] Doctors of the World Visit Sofades

The Mobile Dental Unit for Children Doctors of the World is visiting Sofades municipality to brief children on dental hygiene and treatment

The Mobile Dental Unit for Children Doctors of the World is visiting Sofades municipality from 20-22 February 2008 to brief children on oral hygiene and dental treatment. The medical team, which will be in Karditsa prefecture within the framework of Lito programme will examine pupils at schools in the area.

The team will be at the courtyard of the Fifth Primary school on 20 February to examine pupils and record any dental cases. On 21 and 22 February the doctors will be at the Fourth Primary School, where they will examine the pupils.

35-year-old Evi Tsekou, who is detained, will make an additional testimony at 09:00 on Monday. Professor of Psychiatry Yiannis Papapadatos submitted to the Examiner, who is investigating Zahopoulos case, the illation drawn on accused lawyer Christos Nikoloutsopoulos.
