[02] Greek PM in Boston "Strong Greek-US Ties"

    22 May 2005 09:17:00

    By Anna Kourti

During a brief speech at the Massachusetts government house, Greek PM Kostas Karamanlis spoke of the strong ties between Greece and the USA. Hundreds of expatriate Greeks gave a warm welcome to Mr Karamanlis, his wife and the Greek delegation. On Sunday morning, he will be declared honorary professor at Tufts University, where he received his doctorate, while he will be the keynote speaker during the graduation ceremony.

"Greece and the Greeks Do not Forget "

"Greece and the Greeks do not forget and cannot we forget the warm contribution of the Greek-American community, as well as that of the USA, towards Greece throughout the 20th century. From the Balkan Wars to the Asia Minor catastrophe; from the Great War to WWII; from the financial aid during the post-war restructuring to the close and effective collaboration nowadays; a collaboration that contributed towards our excellent bilateral relations, which were reaffirmed in the meeting I had yesterday with President Bush. Greece and the Greeks do not forget and cannot forget the long-term strategic friendship with the Unites States of America," declared Mr Karamanlis.
