According to today's 'TA NEA' newspaper, out of 1,900,000 insured individuals, 505,000 are economic migrants primarily Albanians, followed by workers from Balkan states, Russia, Pakistan, Egypt and Poland.It is estimated that the country's work force is presently 10% foreign while by the year 2015, one out four residents in Greece is estimated to be a foreigner. Palestinian security sources said the three men detained belonged to the Popular Resistance Committees, an umbrella group of militants that carried out previous roadside bombings against Israeli forces. Security Council voted unanimously today to adopt a resolution on post-war Iraq, a victory for the United States that sought approval for its occupation of the country. Until hours before the vote, the support of key council members, Russia, Germany and France was in doubt. All had opposed the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.U.S. President George W. Bush, under pressure over the growing cost of the Iraqi occupation in U.S. lives and money, was hoping the resolution would encourage nations to support the occupation with troops and cash. It also asks Iraqi leaders to draw up a plan by Dec. 15 for a new constitution and elections. But Russia, Germany and France made clear no further aid or military contributions would be forthcoming.
