[03] SARS suspect case tests in Athens appear negative

Meanwhile, three more people lost their lives in Taiwan because of SARS. The total number of SARS victims up to now has reached 34, while those infected number 264. The authorities in Taiwan and Singapore have told the World Health Organisation that they fear a further spread of SARS in southeastern Asia, despite the fact that China continuous to report fewer SARS cases daily.

At the same time, According to the Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, the World Health Organisation in Geneva had excluded Canada from a list of countries, where one can get infected with SARS.

It should be noted that 16 people died of SARS in Canada, while the World Health Organisation has recently issued a travel directive for Toronto, which is not valid anymore.

In China, the Supreme Court announced that whoever tries to spread infectious diseases like SARS will probably receive life sentence or be executed. On a relative development, during his address at a conference in Asia, a IATA representative said that SARS had caused more damage than the on September 11 attack and the war in Iraq.
