The patient, aged 22 is a flight attendant from South Africa working for a foreign airline, while she had recently travelled to Hong Kong. She arrived in Athens on May 11 and stayed at hotel in Athens. After she found out that she had temperature she was taken to hospital.From his side, in an interview with NET 105.8 Health Minister Costas Stephanis said that since the case had been isolated, there is no reason for concern. The case will be dealt with swiftly. Meanwhile, epidemiologist and professor Dimitris Trihopoulos told our station that the immediate mobilisation of the prevention mechanisms is a very good sign. At the same time, hospital doctors will go on a strike tomorrow, protesting thus to the lack of measures in combating SARS cases. (13/5/2003 11:53:00 ðì) [04] Education issue causes friction between ND & PASOKNew Democracy party's intention to announce its Education programme one day before Lyceum exams was criticized by Education Minister Petros Efthymiou because according to him the announcement would cause psychological pressure to the students.Additionally, Mr Efthymiou criticized the New Democracy party of continuous experimentation on the sector of Education, adding that PASOK's positions on Education would be publicized after the end of the examinations. The New Democracy party has announced the abolishing of the examinations at second class Lyceum. From his side, New Democracy MP George Suflias called on the minister to study first New Democracy's programme that will be announced on Thursday and then criticize it.
