    A fine and warm day is forecast in most parts of the country. Winds variable light. Temperatures in Athens will range between 12 C to 25 C and in Thessaloniki between 11C and 24 C.

    [02] Earthquake, 5,1 in Messinia- no damages reported

    An earthquake measuring 5,1 on the Richter scale shook the cities of Kalamata and Tripolis at 4.50 this morning. The epicenter of the quake was recorded in Messinia. No damages have been reported so far.

    [03] Holiday makers return to urban centers

    The majority of holidaymakers who spent Greek Easter holiday in the countryside and on the islands have returned to the major urban centers. However, traffic police are still on the alert to ensure their safe return. Special measures have been taken to curb accidents and facilitate the smooth and fast flow of vehicles.

    [04] Greek-Cypriots celebrate Easter in the occupied part of Cyprus.

    The Cyprus government is expected to announce a package of measures to assist the Turkish-Cypriot community while the National Assembly meets today to discuss the latest developments after Dektash gesture to open the green line which has separated Turkish and Greek Cypriots for nearly 30 years.

    Thousands of Greek-Cypriots celebrated Easter in the northern occupied part of Cyprus taking advantage of the lifting of restrictions on north- south crossings imposed since Turkish forces occupied the northern part of the island in 1974.

    Turkish-Cypriot leader Raulf Dektash authorised the opening of checkpoints for day trips last week to bolster confidence between the two sides after the collapse of UN brokered talks last month.

    A large number of Turkish-Cypriots also crossed the cease-fire line to the free parts of Cyprus where the President of the Cyprus parliament, Dimitris Hristofias, hosted a dinner in honor of Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot party leaders. Mr Hristofias said that May 1st Labor Day will be jointly celebrated with Turkish-Cypriots at the Liberty Square in Nicosia.

    Raulf Dektash said that he plans to meet with Cyprus President, Tasos Papadopoulos to discuss issues related to free trafficking between north and south.

    Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul told Turkey s Cumhuriyet daily, that Turkey s government wants a permanent solution on Cyprus and is working for this.
