[02] New regulations for pensions

Among others, 4,500 social security stamps will be sufficient for someone to receive his pension, while pensions for Civil Servants will increase.

However, another six months will be added to the required working period for someone to receive ones pension, while some employees&#8217; contribution to the Social Security Fund will have to rise.

Additionally, as regards educators, new regulations will also be applied for them for their pensions.

[03] In expectation of Mr Annan&#8217;s plan

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Costas Simitis is in Paris today within the framework of his tour to European capitals so as to promote Cyprus&#8217; accession to the European Union. Mr Simitis is going to meet with French President Zacques Chirak and his counterpart Jean Pierre Rafaren.

Mr Simitis reiterated that Athens and Nicocia would not accept a solution for the Cyprus issue that would not be for the benefit of Cyprus for the sake of its accession to the European Union, statements that were shared by the President of the Cyprus Republic Glafkos Klerides.

On a relative development, the President of the Hellenic Republic Costis Stephanopoulos and Prime Minister Costas Simtis described the winner of the Turkish elections Recep Tayyip Erdogan&#8217;s statements regarding the Cyprus solution on the basis of the Belgian model as positive. Commenting on this proposal, the Press Minister said that that would mean a solution based on one rule.

On a relative development, New Democracy party President Costas Karamanlis stated that the government adopted all of its positions, adding that Cyprus&#8217; accession must be decided immediately without any delays or additional conditions.

Finally, Mr Karamanlis is to meet with the ambassadors of China, Britain and Russia, countries that are permanent members of the Security Council.

[04] In expectation of the new Turkish Prime Minister

Meanwhile, the winner of the elections Recep Tayyip Erdogan is holding deliberations with his party cadres to decide whom to propose as the new Prime Minister. However, his close associates Abdullah Gul and Betsdi Gionoul are the persons to be chosen most probably.

At the same time, Mr Erdogan and the leader of the Republican Peopoles&#8217; Party Deniz Baykal expressed their commitment to Turkey&#8217;s European course.

[05] Mitsotakis accusing government of not investigating terrorism in depth

Meanwhile, the prisoners&#8217; attorneys stated that their guards are obstructing their clients&#8217; defence. Specifically, they took Koufodinas and Georgatos&#8217; notes from their cells and then returned them back.

On a relative development, in an interview with Mega channel, New Democracy Honorary President Constantinos Mitsotakis launched a verbal attack against the government by stating that terrorism is not Mr Giotopoulos and two families. He also added that the government is not continuing investigations in depth because it is afraid of the political cost.
