    The National Meteorological Service forecasts an improvement of the weather conditions with sunny spells later in the day.

    The temperature in Athens will range from 16 to 23 degrees Centigrate and in Thessaloniki from 12 to 21 degrees.

    [02] Nearing Municipal elections trigger off statements from politicians

    During his party&#8217;s event yesterday, New Democracy party President Costas Karamanlis delivered a speech saying also that his party honours the struggles of the leftists.

    From his side, government spokesman Christos Protopapas called on all citizens to elect progressive leaderships during the municipal and prefectural elections, accusing the New Democracy party of dividing the Greeks with its policy.

    From Patras, Greek Communist party Secretary General Aleka Papariga asked from all voters to vote against those who are responsible for the creation of problems to the people, while Democratic Socialist Movement leader Dimitris Tsovolas approved the prospect of cooperation among political parties.

    [03] Greeks to demonstrate against terrorism on November 17

    Almost all political parties agreed with PASOK secretary Costas Laliotis&#8217; proposal to transform the march in honour of the uprise against the junta on November 17 to a Pan-hellenic demonstration against terrorism.

    Commenting on the proposal, New Democracy party Honorary President Constantinos Mitsotakis said that his party would agree with this idea because it is against terrorism.

    New Democracy Secretary of the Central Committee Vagelis Meimarakis said that his party would accept the proposal provided the march concludes at Parliament without any excesses.

    Synaspismos party leader Nikos Konstantopoulos spoke of a great popular intervention that will make it clear the Greece is against terrorism.

    Finally, in an interview with NET 105.8, New Democracy party MP expressed his disagreement with Mr Laliotis&#8217; proposal because it undermines the commemoration of the uprising of the students of the National Technical School.

    [04] Turkey behind in meeting EU accession criteria

    The European Union report on its expansion to be publicized on Wednesday will be discussed by the Committee&#8217;s plenum in Brussels today. According to information the European Committee is halting Turkey&#8217;s accession process because this country has only met 12 out of the 23 criteria demanded for the commencing of accession negotiations. Meanwhile, according to a secret report that leaked Turkey is far behind in meeting the Copenhagen criteria.
