    Mostly sunny and hot throughout Greece on Tuesday with cloud in the north in the afternoon. Westerly winds, light to moderate. Temperatures between 20C to 37C in the north and west, 22C to 39C on the mainland, and 24C to 36C on the islands. Sunny in Athens, 26C to 39C. The same in Thessaloniki, 22C to 36C.

    [02] Expected heat wave

    For a fourth time this summer Greece is going to be hit by a heat wave with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Centigrate in some cases.Yesterday, the temperature in Thiva reached 40 degrees Centigrate, and in Filadelfia 39 degrees.

    The Health Ministry has advised individuals with health problems to avoid circulating at peak hours.

    [03] Another "November 17" member imprisoned

    Public Order Minister Michalis Chrysohoides met with Prime Minister Costas Simitis at his country house in Agioi Theodoroi yesterday evening and discussed about terrorism.

    Meanwhile, Sotiris Kondylis was taken to Korydallos prison for being a member of the terrorist organisation &#8220;November 17&#8221;. At the same time, the police authorities are intensifying their efforts to locate and arrest Dimitris Koufodinas.

    From his side, New Democracy party Parliamentary representative Prokopis Pavlopoulos stated that his party is waiting until investigations are concluded.

    On a relative development, candidate Athens Mayor Fotis Kouvelis described terrorism as an insult against Democracy and the Left, agreeing with renowned composer Mikis Theodorakis&#8217; article yesterday according to which he blames the Left for negligence on the phenomenon of terrorism.

    [04] Investigations on weaponry theft in Kos continue

    Despite continuing intense army-led investigations to track down those responsible for the theft of weaponry from an army depot on the Dodecanese resort island of Kos, the perpetrators still remain at large, while the conditions of the theft have not yet been fully determined.

    Army investigators on the case said on Monday they believed that the break-in was carried out with the cooperation or assistance of individuals assigned to the army base, while investigations are focusing on 25 military personnel, including officers and conscripts, who were responsible for guarding the looted armoury.

    [05] Lesperoglou imrisoned

    Following the reversal of the verdict of the Court of Appeal by the Supreme Court of Appeal, Avraam Lesperoglou was led to Korydallos prison yesterday. According to the verdict Lesperoglou was not found guilty on the case of attempted manslaughter against police officer Giorgios Psaroudakis in 1982.

    The case will be re-tried on Septemeber 9.

    Meanwhile, in statements made with NET 105.8, the President of the Public Prosecutors&#8217; Union Vassilis Makris said that Avraam Lesperoglou could ask for suspension of his custody. Candidate Mayor for Athens Fotis Kouvelis also stated to the same radio station that each individual found not guilty could ask not be taken in custody and especially in the case of Lesperoglou.

    [06] Simitis&#8217; programme for Thessaloniki Trade Fair under preparation

    PASOK cadres are preparing Prime Minister Costas Simitis&#8217; programme in Thessaloniki in view of the inauguration ceremony of the 67th International Trade Fair there. Special emphasis is being given to Mr Simitis&#8217; meetings with representatives of organizations in Thessaloniki.
