[02] ND party blames the government on the Euro army issue

Following a meeting with Prime Minister Costas Simitis yesterday, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defence verified the adoption of a joint policy and tactics on the Euro army issue. Mr Papandreou described the Spanish Presidency’s efforts as constructive, but pointed out that Greece would insist on a veto, if no agreement was reached. At the same time, the government spokesman stated that the Spanish Presidency had some proposals on the issue, adding that more proposals could follow.

Finally, New Democracy Secretary of Political Planning Giorgos Souflias stated that the present situation as regards the Ankara text is due to the government’s negligence.
