    Cloud turning to rain and local storms are forecast in all parts of the country, especially in the Aegean area. Snow will fall on high ground in the northern and central parts of the country. Winds northwesterly, very strong, turning gale force at sea. Light cloud over Athens with temperatures between 8C and 14C. Morning showers in Thessaloniki with temperatures from 6C to 11C.

    [03] ''Fillipos K'' cargo ship sank 10 crew members rescued

    Ten crew members of the " Fillippos K " cargo ship - which sank 11 miles off the island of Skyros have been rescued.

    Search still continues for the rescue of one missing seaman. The ship had set off from the port of Kavalas with destination the island of Crete.

    [04] Pasok, ND party high tone confrontation

    Maintaining the high tones in the confrontation with the ND party, government spokesman, Hristos Protoppapas stressed that the government will uncover the alliance of vested interests who are trying to degrade politics and manage the resources and growth prosprcts of the country - adding that when the main opposition ND party speaks of servants of vested interests it looks at its image on the mirror.

    On his part,Interior Minister Kostas Skandalidis described as ignoring history those who envision destabilisation and the holding of early elections.

    He also ruled out any change in the electoral law prior to municipal elections in October. Commenting, the ND party spokesman Theodoros Roussopoulos said that the ruling PASOK party was disturbed by the fact that ND leader Costas Karamanlis has come to unite Greeks and not divide the country, something Costas Simitis has been systematically,"doing.

    ND deputy , Dora Bakoyianni said that Pasok fabricates a crisis when it sees election defeat ahead.

    The President of the Coalition of the Left and Progress, Nikos Konstantopoulos said that corruption was a basic element in the country s political life as laws have never been implemented while he accused the two major political parties of playing pre-election games to create impressions.

    In an interview with the television station NET, Mr. Konstantopoulos called on the Pasok party to give proofs if it wanted to cooperate with the Coalition . Eurodeputy of the Coalition of the Left and Progress, Alecos Alavanos said he was in favour of the two parties cooperation in the municipal elections .

    In an interview with the Sunday Eleftherotipia , ND deputy , Nikos Bulgarakis proposed a broad cooperation of the center - right wing party in the elections with the participation of Mr. Avramopoulos, Manos, Samaras and senior members of the former Democratic Renewal party.

    [05] IKA doctors back to work on Monday

    IKA doctors have suspended their strike and returned to work today after an agreement with the Labour ministry for talks on their demands for salary status and job security for about 5,500 doctors employed on a contract basis.

    [06] Cyprus parliament, Defence Committee delegation on a visit to Athens

    A delegation of the Cypriot parliament s defence committee is on a visit to Athens for talks with National Defence Minister Yiannos Papantoniou.

    The officials, who arrived in Athens yestyerday, will also meet with leaders of the armed forces and members of the parliament foreign policy and defence committees.

    They are also expected to hold talks with Foreign Minister George Papandreou and parliament speaker Apostolos Kaklamanis during their three - day visit.

    [07] Israeli tanks pull back from Arafat s headquarters

    Israeli tanks pulled back today from Yasser Arafat s West Bank headquarters in Ramallah where they have confined the Palestinian leader since mid - December following a decision by Israel s cabinet to ease restrictions on Arafat s movements but did not allow the Palestinian leader to leave the West Bank city, where he has been held under virtual house arrest.

    However, the Palestinian authorities have decided to cancel joint security talks while it holds Sharon s government responsible for any escalation of violence in the region.

    German Foreign Minister Yiosca Fisher has described a s very significant the decision to restore Yaser Arafat s free movement.

    [08] Pearl s kidnapper appears before court

    The confessed mastermind of the kidnapping of American jopurnalist Daniel Pearlis to appear today in a Karachi anti- terrorism court where he may fill in details of a crime that schocked the world by its barbarity.

    British - born Ahmed Omar Saeed has already spent time in an Indian jail for a 1994 kidnapping.

    [09] Blair and Bush to meet in April

    British Prime - minister Tony Blair will fly to Washington in April to nail down with American President Bush details of military action against Iraq, the Observer newspaper reported in its Sunday issue.
