 Weather forcastLight cloud is forecast throughout the country with showers in the east and south during the day and in the west overnight. Winds south-southwesterly, moderate, turning strong at sea. In the north, temperatures will range from 1C to 14C and in the rest of the country from 3C to 17C. Cloudy in Athens with temperatures between 7C and 17C. Light cloud in Thessaloniki with temperatures from 5C to 14C.
 Friction with doctorsAccording to the Ministry of Health all University doctors not participating in the rendering of health services are considered as illegal.
Health Minister Alekos Papadopoulos issued a circular calling on doctors to accept the regulations, otherwise they would be considered as illegal.
From their side, University doctors claim that they are safeguarded by the constitution and can teach at hospitals as well as operate, threatening to take legal action to justice.
The government spokesman from his side stated that doctors should choose either to stay at Universities or have their own consulting room. Finally, New Democracy party MP Nikitas Kaklamanis spoke of a regimist mentality that had been adopted by everyone in the government.
 2002 income policy promises increase in salaries and pensionsAccording to the 2002 income policy there will be an average increase of 3.2% on salaries and 4% on pensions for the public sector, while low income earners will receive an allowance.
As of July 1, about 80,000 employees will begin receiving a family allowance.
Meanwhile, in an interview with NET (New Greek Television) yesterday, the Civil Servant┤s President Spyros Papaspyros spoke of a positive step, allowing for a course towards a new status of salaries similar to that of European Union countries.
From its side, the Communist party of Greece spoke of mockery of the employees, while the Synaspismos party of austerity for low income earners.
Finally, Social Democrat Movement leader Dimitris Tsovolas the government┤s incomes policy as one with no prospects.
 Simitis anounces measures for farmersPrime Minister Costantine Simitis anounced measures for the reconstruction of the province and the increase of the farmers income.
A draft bill regarding the founding of the Rural Centre will be tabled at Parliament in February.
Mr. Simitis underlined that the resources secured until 2006 are unprecedented in comparison to the past.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture will meet with farmers from Macedonia and Thrace, who are preparing for mobilisations.
From its side, the New Democracy party accused the government of not participating in the developments in the rural sector, calling on the Prime Minister to intervene and try to solve the problems.
Finally, the Secretary General of the Communist party of Greece Aleka Papariga described the situation as the downgrading of the province.
 Chrysohoides visits LondonMinister of Public Order Michalis Chrysohoidis is on a two day official visit to London, where he will meet with the British Interior minister , the Scotland Yard Chief and other officials.
 Papandreou briefs the opposition on his trip to the USAForeign Minister George Papandrou will brief New Democracy MP Dora Bakoyianni on his recent trip to the USA, on the Cyprus issue and on the Euro army.
In the meantime, the Spanish Foreign minister, who is presiding the European Union Foreign Affairs Council, advised flexibilily on behalf of every country so that discussions on the issue of the Euro army be terminated the soonest possible.
