[02] Discussions about situation in the BalkansThe Foreign ministers of the countries of South Eastern Europe discussed yesterday about developments in the Balkans and the recent violence caused by Albanian extremists in FYROM.Foreign minister Yiorgos Papandreou stated that there should be a close cooperation among the European Union, the United States and Nato, adding that the United States wished to remain in the region and help pending issues to be resolved. Mr. Papandreou met with his Rumanian, Yugoslav, Turkish and Albanian counterparts. The Foreign minister also stated that the message from the meeting was that the principles for the respect of the borders should be boosted and that the problems should not be resolved wth the use of violence. Regarding FYROM, Mr. Papandreou stated that a dialogue had begun and that the European Union offerred its support so that the Albanian population would be incorporated in the state. [03] Drought hitting GreeceAt least 123 areas of Greece are facing the problem of drought and measures must be taken immediately.The Agriculture ministry has aleady anounced that 5 billion drachmas will be spent mainly in Thessaly, Thrace and the islands to help dealing with the problem.[04] More guards in the Greek bordersAn additional group of border guards has been formed and will be stationed in Tsotyli Kozani the Public Order minister Michalis Chrysohoides anounced yesterday. The guards will be checking passages the illegal immigrants are using in the prefectures of Kozani and Grevena to pass to Greece.[05] Kazantzides and Iliopoulos to spend Easter at hospitalTwo famous Greek artists will spend Easter at hospital due to health problems.The first one is singer Stelios Kazantzides and the other is actor Dinos Iliopoulos who is in the intesive care unit of the Athens Central Clinic after having undergone an operation.
