Addressing the union of Turkish businessmen in Constantinople

in Greek-Turkish relations would have a beneficial effect on Turkey's
candidacy for entry to the European Union. He underlined that the

exploited would bring huge political and economic benefits to the
people of Turkey.

and Turkey. The government spokesman, Dimitris Reppas, said there was
no fixed agenda for tomorrow's talks between Mr Simitis and his Turkish

Greek-Turkish relations. He also reiterated there was no question of a
tripartite meeting between prime minister Simitis, president Clinton
and prime minister Ecevit.

[06] OECD REPORT ON WORLD ECONOMY
The biannual report of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and
Development on the course of the world economy, which was released
yesterday, forecasts an international growth rate of 3% this year. With
regard to the Greek economy, the OECD report points out the dynamic
growth shown during 1999 and predicts even greater results over the
next two years. The report considers Greece's admission to European
economic and monetary union as a foregone conclusion.

[08] RARE CELESTIAL PHENOMENON
Providing that weather conditions are favourable, people in Greece will
be able to observe a rare celestial phenomenon, a storm of meteorites,
tonight. The shower of shooting stars is the result of the break-up of
a comet in the solar system.
