Addressing the union of Turkish businessmen in Constantinople yesterday, the American president, Bill Clinton, said the improvement in Greek-Turkish relations would have a beneficial effect on Turkey's candidacy for entry to the European Union. The government spokesman, Dimitris Reppas, said there was no fixed agenda for tomorrow's talks between Mr Simitis and his Turkish counterpart, Bulent Ecevit, but that they would certainly discuss Greek-Turkish relations. He also reiterated there was no question of a tripartite meeting between prime minister Simitis, president Clinton and prime minister Ecevit.
