  • [01] SYRIZA parliamentary spox: Roadmap on debt well on track

SYRIZA parliamentary spokeswoman Fotini Vaki on Tuesday in statements to the Athens Macedonian News Agency's radio station Praktoreio 104.9 FM expressed her optimism over the course of the negotiations.

She explained that the Eurostat data provide a fiscal pillar as well as a strong argument for the government in the negotiations. "Even (German Finance Minister Wolfgang) Schaeuble recognised Greece's efforts," she said.

Asked on the new austerity measures, she said: There will be no austerity measures until 2019. The measures will be implemented in 2019 and 2010 and that is giving the government time to set the basis for its policy, namely the productive reconstruction. She estimated that in two years when the measures will be implemented, the government may be in a position to renegotiate some difficult parts of the agreement.

Regarding the debt settlement, she said that the medium-term measures have been discussed and estimated that a roadmap on the debt is well on track. She reiterated that measures and ofsset measures must be legislated before the Eurogroup on May 22.
