  • [01] Tsakalotos: Meeting with Lagarde went very well

    The meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde "went very well", Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos after the talks held in Washington DC, on the sidelines of the IMF's Spring Meetings.

    "We discussed when the institutions will return [to Athens]; I think Tuesday or Wednesday," he said. "We discussed about the debt, the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies (MEFP) and how to achieve the staff-level agreement."

    Concerning debt, the minister said that work is needed on a technical level.

    [02] Mitsotakis to visit the cities of Naousa and Veria on Sunday

    New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis will tour the cities of Naousa and Veria in central Macedonia on Sunday (April 23).

    On Sunday morning, he will participate in an event marking 195 years since the destruction of Naousa from Ottoman Turks in 1822. He will then tour the archaeological site of Mieza and Vergina, as well as Vergina's museum. His next engagement will be to visit the "Initiative for the Child" in Veria, which provides care and assistance to children in need or danger.

    [03] Three conpanies submit improved bids for Thessaloniki Port stake

    Greece's privatization fund HRADF announced on Friday it has received three improved binding financial offers for the acquisition of a 67 percent stake in Thessaloniki Port Authority SA (OLTH).

    The improved financial offers were submitted by:

    - International Container Terminal Services Inc.,

    - The Peninsular and Oriental Steam,

    - Deutsche Invest Equity Partners GmbH, Belterra Investments LTD and Terminal Link SAS.

    HRADF's board will unseal the financial offers at its next meeting, on Monday April 24th 2017.
