The house in southern Athens in which Panayiota Roupa, a convicted member of the terrorist group Revolutionary Struggle, was arrested early on Thursday was her permanent residence the past two years, police said on Thursday in a press release presenting details of the arrest.

The 48-year-old was sleeping when a special anti-terrorist unit raided the flat in Ilioupoli at 6 in the morning where she lived with her six-year-old son. Police said she didn't resist the arrest. IN a separate operation, police arrested a 25-year-old woman suspected of helping Roupa hide.

According to sources, Roupa didn't respond to any questions by the prosecutor and only commented about her son.

She had been sentenced to 50 years in prison in 2013 for participating in the terror group until 2010. There is also an arrest warrant dating from 2014, concerning, among other crimes, the charge of founding and running a terrorist organization, manufacturing, supplying and possessing explosives, and carrying out bomb attacks. A separate court last year gave her another 11-year jail term for the explosion of a makeshift bomb outside the Bank of Greece headquarters.

Roupa is the partner of imprisoned self-proclaimed RS leader Nikos Maziotis. Roupa and Maziotis had been at large since July 2012 when they disappeared while on conditional leave after serving the maximum of 18 months in pre-trial custody. Maziotis was arrested in a police shootout in 2014. Poupa is being held at Attica police's headquarters (GADA) but will be sent to Korydallos prison in the coming days.

Police said it is now searching for hideouts where the terror group has stashed its weapons, noting this is only the beginning of the investigation. Forensic crews are searching for fingerprints and other evidence which may lead to other suspects. Police said it is also investigating the role of the 25-year-old woman who is alleged to have helped Roupa hide.

Revolutionary Struggle has claimed responsibility for more than 16 attacks since 2003, including a rocket attack against the U.S. embassy in Athens in 2007.
