  • [01] PM Tsipras meets with Cyprus President Anastasiades

    Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is currently meeting with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades at the Maximos mansion.

    The meeting focuses on the coordination of Athens and Nicosia on the negotiations for the Cyprus issue ahead of the meeting in Geneva.

    [02] Voutsis: Campaign policy has nothing to do with early elections

    The government and SYRIZA delayed to have direct contact with the people, parliament president and SYRIZA deputy Nikos Voutsis said in an interview with Efimerida ton Syntakton adding that the campaign policy is very useful and has nothing to do with the possibility of early elections.

    Asked if he is afraid of SYRIZA's collapse in the next general elections, Voutsis said he is no afraid of SYRIZA's collapse or of the closing of the circle of the Left but he underlined that "I am afraid of the constant test of the relation between the government's policy and the society".

    Referring to the completion of the second review of the Greek programme he said that according the data he has, there is no problem adding however that "it would be a very negative surprise if a minority in EU requested the further delay of the second review for reasons that only in political terms could be explained".

    Asked on which is the government's biggest achievement, Voutsis said the fact that there is an alternative for Greece in a world that dominates the doctrine TINA (There Is No Alternative).

    Voutsis expressed his discomfort over the "increasing suffocating supervision".

    "We were never concerned in the return to the drachma" he said and called "a historic mistake" someone to flirt with such an idea in a period of nationalist rebound in Europe

    [03] Completion of second review with terrible measures for the people, says ND deputy Georgiadis

    "I do not have the slightest doubt that Mr. Tsipras will sign and agree to everything and the second review be completed with terrible measures for the Greek people" stated to Athens Macedonian News Agency radio "Praktoreio 104.9 FM, main opposition New Democracy responsible for Defence Adonis Georgiadis on Friday.

    Referring to German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble's demands and his pressure to the Greek government, Georgiadis said that when Schaeuble asks Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos' despicable letter and he sends it then we give the impression that we have unconditionally surrendered.

    Asked if he believes there will be early elections, Georgiadis estimated that there will be a clash between Mr. Tsipras' will and his MPs with reality and usually in the confrontation the winner is reality, said ND deputy.

    [04] Investigations on Greek ambassador in Brazil continue; charred body found in Greek envoy's rented car

    The coroner is currently examining the charred body found in an abandoned car in the area Nova Iguacu of the city of Rio, Brasil, rented by the Greek ambassador in Brazilia Kyriakos Amiridis a few days ago.

    Diplomatic sources said to Athens Macedonian News Agency that the Greek Embassy has requested from the Foreign Ministry of Brasil to proceed immediately with the autopsy of the charred body and to officially inform them as soon as the results are ready.

    The Foreign Ministry and the Greek Embassy in Brazilia are in close cooperation with the Brazilian authorities to proceed with the necessary actions to accelerate the course of the investigation to locate the Greek ambassador in Brazil.

    The Greek ambassador to Buenos Aires Dimitris Zevelakis, following Greek Foreign Ministry's orders, will go on Friday to Brazil to offer his assistance to the Greek Embassy in Brazilia.

    [05] Thirty one refugees arrested on Kastellorizo

    Thirty one refugees from Syria (18 men, 6 women and 7 children) that arrived from the Turkish coasts were arrested on Friday on the island of Kastellorizo. The refugees were arrested for illegal entrance to Greece.
