  • [01] Leonides meteor shower to peak Friday at dawn

    The autumn Leonids meteor shower will reach its peak on Thursday night to early Friday at the north hemisphere.

    However, the supermoon has made the sky so bright and if even there are no clouds in the sky the conditions will not be good enough for night observation.

    The Leonids get their name from the location of their radiant in the constellation Leo.

    [02] Light quake jolts central Macedonia

    A light quake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale was recorded on Wednesday at 11:15 near Kilkis, central Macedonia.

    According to the University of Thessaloniki Geophysics Lab, the tremor's epicentre was located 40 km northwest of Thessaloniki and is part of the seismic sequence following the 4.3R quake that shook the region last Thursday.

    [03] Work stoppages in public transport; no link with airport between 14:00 and 16:00

    Acropolis metro station will remain closed on Wednesday from 09.30 am at an order of the Greek police due to the visit of the US President Barack Obama.

    Moreover, there will be no connection with the airport from 14.00 to 16.00.

    Trams will not operate until 16.00 and trains from 21.00 until the end of the shift.
