  • [01] More TV licences may be awarded, Digital Policy Min Pappas says

    The number of TV licences will be decided after consultations between the government and the political forces with the consent of the National Council for Radio and Television, Digital Policy, Media and Information Minister Nikos Pappas on Tuesday said in statements to SKAI radio.

    Asked whether he insists on the number (four) of licences, he said that the number may be higher.

    Referring to the US President Barack Obama's visit and whether SYRIZA has changed stance, he said that the US have recently, mainly under Obama's presidency, adopted an agenda against austerity policies in Europe.

    On the negotiations with the institutions, he said that the government aims to respect the agreements adding that the latest economic figures show signs of stabilisation and recovery.

    [02] Negotiations on second review of the Greek programme started on Tuesday

    Negotiations between the government and the representatives of the institutions started on Tuesday with the participation of Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, Economy Minister Dimitris Papadimitriou and Energy Minister Giorgos Stathakis.

    The negotiations, part of the second programme review, will focus on the privatisations super-fund and labour issues.

    The agenda of the second programme review also includes 2017-2018 fiscal figures, the medium-term programme, the primary surplus targets, the social solidarity income, the extrajudicial settlement of non-performing loans, the privatisations, the opening of certain professions, boosting entrepreneurship and others.

    The government aims to reach a staff level agreement by the Euro Working Group on November 28 so that the December 5 Eurogroup gives the green light for the medium-term measures for the debt and then discuss the participation or not of the IMF in the Greek programme.

    [03] PPC to build 12 windpower parks

    Public Power Corporation Renewables, a subsidiary of PPC, plans to build 12 new windpower parks with a total power of 31.8 MW in Sitia (Crete), Evia and Aegean islands.

    The company has placed in public consultation a tender plan to build the windpower parks before officially launching the tenders. PPC has set as a strategic goal to expand its activities in the renewable sources sector.

    The projects envisage the installation and operation of 11 windpower parks, with a total power of 24.3 MW in Marmari (Evia) 5.4 MW, Perdiki (Ikaria) 0.9 MW, Aghios Ioannis (Karpathos) 0.9 MW, Sigri (Lesvos) 2.7 MW, Vigla (Limnos) 0.9 MW, Lakakia (Samos) 1.8 MW, Melanios (Chios) 2.7 MW, Profitis Ilias (Psara) 1.8 MW, Potamia (Chios) 0.9 MW, Tigani (Mykonos) 1.8 MW and Mamados (Tinos) 4.5 MW.

    Also, the installation and operation of a windpower park with a total power of 7.5 MW in Palaeopyrgos-Perdikies Sitia (Crete).
