  • [01] Tight security measures for Putin's visit to Athens

    Police have deployed 2,500 officers ahead of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Athens.

    The Russian President is scheduled to arrive at the Athens International Airport at 15:30. Main roads in downtown will be closed to traffic as of 14.00.

    The full programme of the Russian President is:

    15:30-15:45: Putin and his delegation arrive at Athens' International Airport. Unofficial welcoming ceremony. The Russian leader will be welcomed by Defence Minister Panos Kammenos.

    16:30-16:55: Meeting between the Russian President and President Prokopis Pavlopoulos

    17:00: Putin arrives at Maximos Mansion

    17:05-17:35: Private meeting between Putin and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras

    17:35-18:35: Working lunch, extended talks between the two delegations

    18:35-18:55: Signing of agreements

    18:55-19:25: Putin and Tsipras to make statements to media

    The Russian President and his delegation to visit the Byzantine and Christian Museum where an event is planned for 20.00, attended by the Greek premier. After the event, Putin will return to his hotel.

    On Saturday, Putin will travel to Thessaloniki, where he will be welcomed by Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias at the airport. The Russian leader will then travel to Karyes, the seat of the clerical and secular administration of Mount Athos, where he will be welcomed by Pavlopoulos.

    Putin will then visit Mount Athos, after which he will return to Macedonia Airport and depart with a special flight at 20:45.

    [02] Wineries open their doors to visitors on Saturday and Sunday

    Wineries throughout Greece open their doors to visitors and invite all the wine friend for an aroma and flavour voyage on Saturday and Sunday.

    The visitors will be toured in the vineyards, in the production area and the cellars while a series of events as wine tasting will be among the happening that will take place in the wineries, according to an announcement.

    [03] Black Sea Trade and Development Bank to hold regional business forum "Supporting Growth in Greece"

    The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) will hold a Regional Business Forum, entitled "Supporting Growth in Greece" in Athens on May 30.

    Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Economy Minister Giorgos Stathakis and the president of Black Sea Trade and Development Bank Ihsan Ugur Delikanli will open the event.

    The Business Forum will gather policy makers from the Black Sea region, representatives of development financial institutions and Greek business leaders to analyse regional success stories and share their experience on economic strategies and measures aimed at fostering growth.

    [04] Startup Weekend Piraeus - Blue Growth to be held on June 3-5

    The second Startup Weekend Piraeus - Blue Growth will be held in Piraeus on June 3-5 with the view to offering the chance to transforming ideas in the maritime industry into business.

    Blue Growth is aiming to inspire and help young entrepreneurs realize the innovative concepts relating to marine life. More specifically, it is a marine challenge competition that seeks to deliver innovative sustainable business ideas for products and services relating to the blue economy.
