[01] Despite difficulties, the Left is creating the conditions to exit the crisis, says PMThe positive outcome of Greece's negotiations with its lenders and the expected positive development in debt relief will mark the entry to a new era for the economy, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Friday during a meeting of SYRIZA's political secretariat.According to party sources, Tsipras also said this entry requires "a serious plan, determination and not complacency", adding that despite the difficulties the Left has managed to create the conditions for an exit from the crisis. "Now, it has to prove that it can also plan the next day even more effectively," he said. According to sources, Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos briefed on the outcome of the Eurogroup meeting of May 9 and ahead of the Eurogroup on May 24. He also said that the debate is now focusing on the debt issue, on which Greece is pushing for the best possible solution. [02] First 42 investments to be financed under Juncker Plan approvedThe Government Council for Economic Policy on Friday approved the first 42 investment plans, amounting to 5,392,550,000 euros in total, that are to be included for financing under the 'Investment Plan for Europe' initiated by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. The list includes major private and public investments across six sectors of the economy, including energy, transport, infrastructure, information technology, research and development, industry and tourism.There are 20 energy projects totaling an investment of 1.972 billion euros: three by Terna, the ADMIE power transmission operator's undersea link between Crete and the Peloponnese, the Public Gas Corporation of Greece network, the natgas terminal in Alexandroupolis, 190 wind turbine projects by 120 separate investors and various large Greek and foreign investments in solar and hydroelectric power, as well as a geothermic energy project for a hydroponic greenhouse. Five projects worth a total of 1.445 billion euros concern transport infrastructure, among them seaplane ports to link the islands to mainland Greece, new intercity bus terminals for Athens, a road-rail link for Lavrio port, the undersea tunnel to the island of Salamina and a Ymettos Avenue circular linked by a tunnel to Vouliagmenis Avenue. There are also three projects to improve tourism infrastructure worth 112 million euros, five IT and communications projects worth 920 million euros, four research, development and innovation projects budgeted at 594 million euros to be executed by universities and research institutes in collaboration ministries and five projects worth 349 million euros for investments in private industry proposed by Terna, ELVAL, Steelmet, Macedonian Paper Company and Nova Hellas. [03] Ministries set up team to examine raising 'Sea Diamond' wreckA nine-member working group that will process and study economic issues relating to the raising of the "Sea Diamond" cruise ship which ran aground and sank in the Santorini caldera in 2007 was set up by the relevant ministries on Friday.The ship, which belonged Louis Cruise Lines, sank on April 5 2007, after running aground off Santorini the previous day, leaving two passengers missing and presumed dead. The working group will also assist the municipal coast guard of Santorini during the raising, removal or neutralization of the wreck, aiming to limit and avoid further sea pollution.
