[01] Clashes erupt on island of Kos over construction of migrant hotspot
Clashes have broken out between riot police and the residents of the
island of Kos at the old military camp of Pyli who protested against
the construction of a hotspot on the island.
Police used tear gas and chemicals and according to protesters two of
them were sent to hospital while others had respiration problems.
Four riot police squads from Athens are on the island from Friday morning
and the condition on the island is very frail.
[02] Snowfall across mountainous Greece over the weekend
Traffic police in the greater Athens area on Friday closed the section of
roadway between the cable car station and the mountain-top Mont Parnes
casino on the foothills below Mt. Parnitha, which overlooks the Greek
capital from the north, due to heavy snowfall.
After a warm spell over the past week, the weather turned decidedly wintry
over last 24 hours with rain and snow forecast for most of the country.
