    The National Weather Service warned that temperatures will drop significantly in the next 24 hours, with sleet and wind expected for most of the country and snow forecast for the mountainous and northern regions.

    Snowfall is even expected in the northern parts of the capital, with temperatures dropping up to 5 degrees. In Thessaloniki temperatures will fall to -5 degrees. Winds will reach 8 on the Beaufort scale.

    Meanwhile, the municipal services in Athens announced that a heated room at the community center (Lenorman and Alexandrias) opened at 10 am while the municipal stadium at Rouf (Piraeos and Echelidon) will also be available on Saturday.

    [02] Road traffic accidents down 8.3 pct in Oct. '15

    In October 2015 the road traffic accidents, which occurred in Greece resulting in injured or killed persons, decreased by 8.3 percent in comparison with the corresponding month of 2014 (919 road accidents in October 2015 against 1,002 road accidents in October 2014), the Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday.

    According to the qualitative comparison of the data, road accident casualties in October 2015 recorded a decrease by 26.7 percent for persons killed, by 15.4 percent for persons seriously injured and by 10.9 percent for persons slightly injured.

    [03] At least 3,000 refugees arrive at Piraeus port on Wednesday

    "Terra Jet" catamaran carried 1,732 refugees from Mytilene to Piraeus port on Wednesday.

    "Ariadni" ferry carried another 1,395 from Mytilene and Chios.

    [04] Arrivals and nights spent in hotels up in 9-month period

    According to the survey of ELSTAT on arrivals and nights spent in hotels, similar establishments and tourist campsites, an increase of 4.3 percent is recorded in arrivals and an 2.2 percent increase in nights spent, for the period of January-September of 2015, compared with the corresponding period of 2014.

    More specifically, during the period of January-September 2015, a significant increase, in absolute values, is observed in arrivals and nights spent in hotels, similar establishments and tourist campsites by non-residents of 4.9 percent and 2.4 percent respectively, while the arrivals and nights spent by residents, in absolute values, increased slightly (2.8 percent in arrivals and 1.0 percent in nights spent) compared with the corresponding period of 2014.

    According to the survey's results, for the period of January-September of 2015, the average of nights spent per person is 4.3 nights.
