  • [01] 115 Syrian refugees located on abandoned island

ANA/MPA---A fisherman found on Thursday 115 Syrian refugees on an abandoned island north of the island of Alonissos. Alonissos port authorities sent a boat to collect the refugees.

A rescue operation is currently underway at the sea region between the islands of Kos and Kalolimnos to locate seven missing migrants.

The incident was reported by a fisherman who located a migrant in the water. The man said that he and seven more migrants were on a dinghy that capsized.

Three Coast Guard patrol vessels, an open seas vessel and a Super Puma helicopter are searching the area to locate the missing migrants.

[02] First underwater dance-visual performance "Drops of Breath" at Cape Sounio

ANA/MPA---Greece will host the world's first underwater dance-visual performance "Drops of Breath", at Cape Sounio, on September 25-27.

The performance is an initiative of choreographers Sophie Bulbulyan and Apostolia Papadamaki in collaboration with Lia Haraki and a team from another 12 countries.

The motto of the performance is: "Everybody is equal under the water".

The underwater choreography will take place in a depth of six metres in scenography and costumes by George Georgiou and sound of Tryfon Koutsourellis.

14 professional and amateur performers, including three disabled and three children, will perform while the audience can attend in three ways: underwater with special equipment, on the surface of the sea with snorkelling gear or on the beach as three underwater cameras will provide simultaneous screening.

A part of the underwater performance will be presented from 25 to 27 October in the gardens of the Vorres Museum along with an interactive performance of dance and music.
