Tsipras underlined that since the recapitalisation will have been concluded by the end of 2015, there is no risk of a deposits haircut. Asked on capital controls, he said that relaxation of capital controls has already started and they will be lifted after the recapitilisation of the banks. As for the recession from capital controls, he said it will be provisional adding that he sees positive growth rates in the first half of 2016. He also stressed the importance of foreign investments as long as they are made on the right terms. Regarding the next day of the elections, he said that SYRIZA is a political power identified by cooperation and consensus. Asked why he rules out cooperation with New Democracy leader Evangelos Meimarakis, he said that they have ideological differences and they represent completely different social interests.[02] SYRIZA's struggle 'laid bare' Europe's leadership, French leftist leader Pierre Laurent says to ANA-MPAANA/MPA---"SYRIZA's struggle against austerity laid bare Europe's leadership and brought to light its true nature...my coming to Athens contains a message to the Greek people that they are not alone," the French Communist Party's General Secretary Pierre Laurent said on Friday, in a statement to the ANA-MPA."United the forces of the Left will in the course of time be victorious in the battle against austerity," he added, ahead of his visit to Athens to attend SYRIZA's main pre-election rally in Syntagma Square on Friday night. Laurent will be joined by other European leftist leaders, including the head of Germany's Die Linke party Gregor Gysi and the head of Spain's Podemos Pablo Iglesias. "All together, today, we want to say that the return of New Democracy will be disastrous for Greece and the people of Europe," Laurent said. An ND victory, he explained, would encourage all those that want to prevent an exit from austerity. "We want a victory for SYRIZA, which will continue the fight against austerity, in spite of the difficulties. My presence in Athens is also a message to the Greek people that they are not alone and that throughout Europe we are working to broaden the front of anti-austerity forces. In Catalonia, in Spain, in France, in Germany, in Italy, everywhere we are continuing to build up forces that aim to support the Greek people for the continuation of their struggle, in order to progressively exit the austerity policies imposed on them," he said. He urged those disillusioned by SYRIZA's decision to sign a third memorandum to continue supporting the party, noting that the "struggle is continuing". "The agreement of July 13 was an extremely difficult and painful moment but the struggle must continue in Greece and all of Europe," Laurent stressed. He also appealed for unity within the ranks of the Left fighting against austerity. "Only with a constant effort to preserve the unity of the forces opposing austerity can we hope to win eventually," Laurent noted. [03] Potami needs to get a 10 percent in the elections, its leader Theodorakis saysANA/MPA---"Potami party needs to get a 10 percent in the elections," its leader Stavros Theodorakis said to SKAI TV late on Thursday. "We advise the Greeks not to return to the past. If Potami does not get a high percentage, we will not be able to help the country as we want," he added."By no means will we become the 'crutch' of anyone because our ambition is not a ministerial position, but to change the country," he said and added: "I think people have understood that it is not only the first party that it matters, but the third party will also play a significant role." Finally, he underlined that if Potami is the third party, it will be able to influence the political system in a beneficial way.
