  • [01] Tsipras: We should deal with the problems of the political system

ANA/MPA---SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras, who is touring Chania, Crete, on Tuesday stressed the importance of dealing effectively with the long lasting problems of the political system, the important problems of the country, and the large interests.

"It is the politicians of the past that pushed us in the ditch, creating debts. And we should get out of the ditch," he underlined and added: "Overcoming the crisis is not just a Greek issue, but a Europen one."

He referred to the NSRF 2014-2020 programme and the Juncker package of 35 million euros, noting that a key part of the programme should be directed to small and medium-sized projects of local authorities.

[02] There is no room for protest in the elections, ND leader Meimarakis says

ANA/MPA---New Democracy (ND) leader Evangelos Meimarakis on Tuesday underlined that there is no room for protest in the upcoming elections.

In an interview with Mega TV, he called on Greeks to get informed and vote in the elections so that the country exits the crisis.

Meimarakis accused Alexis Tsipras of lying and fleeing before imposing 90 billion euro measures.

"Tsipras' closed the parliament and goes to elections before the Greeks learn about the measures," he stressed. "We have had elections six times in a year. This causes instability and drives investments away. Citizens are giving us a mandate to solve the problem," he added.

He also noted that the time of one-party governments has gone by. "It is the era of consensus and discussions. An institutional discussion with local officials is needed; all major issues require consensus and conversation," he said.

Meimarakis will speak at the party's old offices, 18 Rigillis, Athens, at 19:30.
