[01] Debate on referendum underway
ANA/MPA---The discussion on the referendum is underway in the Parliament
plenum.
According to the Cabinet's decision following Tsipras' proposal the Greek
people are called to decide if they want the lenders' agreement proposal
tabled at 25 June's Eurogroup to be accepted or not. The voting process
will start at midnight.
The referendum will be held on Sunday 5 July.
[02] Eurogroup chief: The decision for referendum took us by surprise
ANA/MPA---It is a sad situation, Eurogroup president Jeroen Dijsselbloem
stated upon his arrival at the Eurogroup meeting.
Dijsselbloem also said that they were suprised by prime minister Alexis
Tsipras' announcement for a referendum.
The Greek side apparently rejects the institutions' proposal, he said,
while the prime minister gives a negative advice to the Greek people. He
also called sad the fact that with this decision the Greek government
closed the doors to further deliberations adding that the Eurogroup will
examine the possible repercussions in the future.
