  • [01] European Commission chief Juncker: Greece has 'long road ahead' but is not in danger of bankruptcy

ANA-MPA - Greece still has a long road ahead, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said in an interview on Saturday, but ruled out its bankruptcy at this point.

Even if Greece has not detailed its proposals for reforms, "Rheinische Post" daily quoted the Commission official as saying, "we are on the right path."

He reiterated that Greece "is and remains a part of the eurozone" but it must keep its commitments to the Eurogroup. It must also follow a viable and trustworthy fiscal policy, he said, noting that if campaign promises are to be kept, they must be fundable as well.

ANA/MPA---Greek banks' deposits fell to 145 billion euros in March, from 147.5 billion in February in a sign that the outflow of deposits was slowing down in the domestic banking system, the European Central Bank said on Wednesday.

Deposits in Greek banks were down by around 7.8 billion euros in February.
