  • [01] Golden Dawn MP Mattheopoulos appears before magistrates

ANA/MPA---Golden Dawn MP Artemis Mattheopoulos has been summoned to testify on Monday to the examining magistrates Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitropoulou investigating the Golden Dawn (GD) case facing the charges of participating and leading a criminal organization.

After the conclusion of Mattheopoulos' testimony, the magistrates will call GD deputies whose immunity has been lifted, among them party leader Nikos Mihaloliakos and MP Christos Pappas who are remanded in custody as well as MP Ilias Kasidiaris who has been released on conditions - to give additional depositions.

An Appeals Court Council decision on Golden Dawn MP Eleni Zaroulia penal treatment is still pending. Zaroulia who testified last week was temporarily placed under house arrest following a disagreement between the prosecutor, who suggested she should be held on remand and the examining magistrates, who proposed that she should be placed under house arrest.

If the Council adopts the prosecutor's proposal, Zaroulia will be send to prison. If it adopts the examining magistrates' position, she will be placed under house detention and will be banned from leaving the country but she will be able to attend the parliamentary proceedings.
