  • [01] Polytechnic uprising events peak on Sunday

    The three-day commemoration events for the 40th anniversary of the student uprising against the junta on November 17, 1973 continued on Saturday and will peak on Sunday with the demonstration that will start at 15.00 from the Polytechnic main gate to the American Embassy. The gates of the institute will be open to public until late in the evening while students and professors are responsible to safeguard the Institute's premises.

    Police announced that security measures in the city center during Sunday's demonstration will be high and there will be also traffic regulations in streets around the Athens Polytechnic. There will also be changes in the public transport (buses, trolleys) routes and stops.

    Moreover, the metro stations 'Panepistimio','Syntagma' and 'Evangelismos' will close on Sunday at 13.00 and 'Megharo Moussikis' and Ampelokipi' at 14.30, as part of the security measures for the Polytechnic uprising demonstration.

    [02] Samaras to meet Merkel in Berlin on Nov. 22

    ANA-MPA -- Prime Minister Antonis Samaras will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on November 22 in Berlin, according to a statement issued by the chancellor.

    The prime minister has been invited to a working lunch, during which the two will discuss the European policy, bilateral issues and the situation in Greece. A joint press conference will follow.

    Samaras will be in Berlin to speak at the economic conference of the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.

    Before leaving Greece, on November 21, the prime minister will meet with the US Minister of Commerce Penny Printzker, who will be on an official visit to Greece.
