[01] Opinion polls show ND's marginal lead over SYRIZANew Democracy (ND) leads by a marginal 0.5 over main opposition SYRIZA, according to an opinion poll conducted by GPO for private TV MEGA.According to the poll results, ND leads with 21 percent, followed by SYRIZA with 20.5 percent, ultra-right Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avghi) with 7.8 percent, PASOK and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) with 6 percent, Independent Greeks with 4.5 percent and Democratic Left (DIMAR) with42.5 percent, while 4.3 percent of the respondents said they will vote another party, and 13.6 of the respondents did not answer. In response to who would be most suitable for prime minister, current Prime Minister Antonis Samaras (and ND leader) was preferred by 44.4 percent of the respondents, followed by SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras with 30.4 percent while 23.7 percent said none of above. Regarding the recent development on Golden Dawn, 76.6 percent said that the arrest of Golden Dawn's leaders was right while 72.1 percent of the respondents said that Golden Dawn is a threat for the democracy. The geographic coverage of the opinion poll was nationwide and was conducted between 3 and 7 October 2013. In another opinion poll conducted by MRB for private TV STAR and "enikos.gr" website, New Democracy (ND) leads by a marginal 0.6 percent over main opposition SYRIZA. According to the poll results, ND was leading with 21.8 percent, followed by SYRIZA with 21.2 percent, ultra-right Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avghi) with 6.9 percent, PASOK with 5.2 percent the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) with 5 percent, Independent Greeks with 4.8 percent and Democratic Left (DIMAR) with 3.6 percent, while 7 percent expressed preference to other parties. In response to who would be most suitable for prime minister, current Prime Minister Antonis Samaras (and ND leader) was preferred by 36.6 percent of the respondents, followed by SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras with 25.1 percent and 34.8 of the respondents said none of the above.
