  • [01] Deputy development minister on working visit to Munich

ANA-MPA -- Deputy Development, Competitiveness, Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Minister Notis Mitarakis is to depart for Munich on Tuesday for a two-day working visit ending on May 8.

While in Munich, he will meet with Bavarian State Minister for Federal and European Affairs Emilia Muller and Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology Katja Hessel. Following his meeting with Hessel, there will be a meeting of the Greek and German delegations, attended by representatives of the local business community.

On Wednesday, Mitarakis is due to speak at the seminar "Greek Forum 2013 - The economic situation: business opportunities and prospects in the Greek Economy" organised by the Munich Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The minister will be accompanied by Invest in Greece Chairman Aristomenis Syngros.

[02] Alpha Bank announces terms of share capital increase plan

ANA-MPA/ Alpha Bank on Wednesday said private investors' participation, worth 457 million euros, in a share capital increase plan totaling 4.5 billion euros, was fully secured and will raise the bank's basic equity capital rate to 13.7 pct.

Alpha Bank's board unveiled the terms of a share capital increase plan, up to 550 million euros, as part of a capital boosting scheme worth 4.5 billion euros. Private investors' participation will be made through the secured issuance of new common shares, with a tranferable rights issue for owners of common shares up to 457 million euros and through a private placement worth 93 million euros with selected institutional investors. The remaining sum of 4.5 billion euros will be covered by the Hellenic Financial Stability Fund. The offering price for all new common shares will be 0.44 euros per share. Private investors will receive a fully-negotiable warrant for each new common share, which will give them the right to acquire bank shares at the offering price plus an annual margin for the next 4.5 years. The issue will be fully guaranteed by a consortium of international financial firms. Commnenting on the share capital increase plan, Yiannis Costopoulos, Alpha Bank's chairman, said both the capital boosting scheme and the acquisition of Emporiki Bank were landmark plans in the history of the bank. "Alpha Bank with a strong capital base, its position in the market and its dedicated workforce will continue supporting its clients and contributing to the economic recovery of the country," he said.

Dimitris Mantzonis, Alpha Bank's chief executive, said the bank is the first Greek bank to have secured commitments of fully covering the minimum 10 pct participation of private investors in a share capital increase plan.

The share capital increase plan is fully secured by JP Morgan and Citigroup (global coordinators and joint bookrunners), HSBC and Credit Agricole CIB (joint bookrunners), Axia Ventures Group (co-lead manager) and Alpha Finance (advisor).

The plan is expected to be completed by the end of May, early June.
